Drive north

Up the Glenn Highway with room in the back for the coolers, the rods and the luggage. The lake house is the first stop, and the big country is a day out and back.

    Hatcher Pass

    About 30 miles, up the Palmer-Fishhook Road

    Alpine valleys in the Talkeetna Mountains and the old gold-mine buildings at Independence Mine State Historical Park. The road over the summit is usually open from July to mid-September.

    Knik Glacier

    Under an hour, from the Knik River Road

    A wall of blue ice at the head of the Knik River. It is not a drive-up viewpoint: guided airboat, ATV and helicopter trips run out to the face.

    The Musk Ox Farm

    About 20 miles, in Palmer

    A working farm in Palmer where a guide walks you out to meet the herd. Tours run daily in summer and on set days the rest of the year.

We live here and have been handing our keys to visitors for twelve years. The idea has not changed: treat people the way we would want to be treated after a long flight north.

Ask us where the moose are, which road is worth the detour, or where to find breakfast at six in the morning.

How do I book?

The house is booked on Airbnb and each vehicle on Turo, so payment and protection run through platforms you already know. If you want both, send your dates here first and we line the two bookings up for you.

Can you deliver to the airport?

Yes. Your vehicle can be waiting at Ted Stevens Anchorage International when you land. Send us your flight number and we work around it.

When can I rent a vehicle?

From about April 15 to November 1. The fleet comes off the road for the winter, so vehicles are not rented between early November and mid-April.

Can I book the house and a vehicle together?

That is what we are set up for. Tell us your dates and how many people are coming, and we match a vehicle to the house and quote the two together.

What is check-in like at the house?

Self check-in, with the details sent before you arrive, so a late flight is not a problem.
